    On the other hand, I would rather a million Dollhouse and Cloverfield worshipping reviews talking reverentially about how perfect Cabin in the Woods was than the Slate review that referred to horror movies as generally gory stupidity without “a modicum of wit”. Whatever Whedon and Goddard ~did for the genre~, putting wit in it is is … not even close to one of the options. They would have to wrestle Romero, Raimi, Roth, Rodriguez, Scott, Park, Miike, Haneke, Kubrick, and Wright for that, just to start with.
